Therapeutic Approach

Couples Therapy

In couples work, I draw primarily from Attachment Theory and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).

We all come to relationships with our own unique history, including what our early relationships taught us (conscious or not), what we learned to expect from relationships, and how our other relational experiences have shaped us. Sometimes, the way our experiences have shaped us can come into conflict with those of our relationship partner. In my approach to couples therapy, we work together to understand how each member of the couple developed their inner framework, as well as how the couple dynamics originated, evolved, and continue to persist, in order to understand how to best intervene to move forward differently.

We also work to understand emotions and how they influence their interactions. I help to guide clients to recognize patterns, express needs, and respond to others in ways that build closeness and trust. This leads to greater emotional balance and stronger relationships.

I offer tele therapy for couples struggling with issues in relationship including:

  • Communication issues

  • Difficulty in conflict

  • Issues related to trust and ruptures in relationship

  • Navigating important decisions

  • Loss of connection or intimacy
