Therapeutic Approach
Individual Therapy

I primarily draw from Attachment Theory and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to inform my clinical practice.

In a nutshell: I view therapy as a process of gaining insight into the whole person and the factors that have led to the present, which allows for looking clearly at the present and intentionally towards the future. I use Attachment Theory to help us to understand the influence of early relationships and experiences on how you view yourself and your place in the world. I use ACT to help us to cultivate psychological flexibility including developing mindfulness and acceptance processes and commitment and behavior change processes (Please see my Blog for more information on Attachment Theory and Acceptance and Commitment therapy).

I have two main aims in therapy. The first, overarching aim is to help you to create a meaningful, fulfilling life, through collaboratively exploring what is truly important to you, what you really want, where you find meaning, and using that knowledge as our guide. Secondly, in order to move towards alignment with the life you want, we will develop a set of skills that will allow you to navigate the difficult things (i.e. painful feelings, difficult thoughts, challenging life circumstances, etc.) more effectively, in such a way that they have less influence over your life.

I offer individual tele therapy for people struggling with mental health issues including:

-
Depression, including feeling sad and down, finding less enjoyment in things, low motivation
-
Anxiety, including worrying frequently about many domains of life
-
Stress, including feeling overly stressed and difficulty coping with the stress
-
Adjustment Disorder, including struggling with life changes, adjusting to new circumstances
-
Relationship issues, including problematic relational patterns, difficulty communicating
-
Problematic behaviors, including maladaptive coping strategies (i.e. drinking, binge eating, etc.)
